REFILLING HP COLOUR 62 301 302 303 304 305 308 & XL
Cartridges must be refilled soon after becoming empty. So that the cartridge’s print head does not dry out. Don’t use cartridges that you have had lying around empty for some time, because the heads are likely to have dried out and will not work.
HP Instant Ink Subscription Cartridges and Remanufactured Cartridges cannot be refilled.
REFILLING COLOUR CARTRIDGES

Remove the COLOUR cartridge from your printer. CAREFULLY remove the label with a Stanley Type knife. The label can be reused after refilling.
HP OFTEN CHANGE THE COLOUR SEQUENCE OF THEIR COLOUR CARTRIDGE CHAMBERS - SO YOU MUST ALWAYS CHECK THE COLOUR SEQUENCE BY USING A TOOTHPICK

Place the cartridge in the Refill Tool (Its designed to be a tight fit) and take a syringe (no needle) and insert it into the bottom of the Tool. Now pull out the syringe plunger so that old ink comes from the print head. Do not use this old ink and dispose of carefully. (If the cartridge is completely empty no ink will appear.)

Ink Stampede’s recommended amounts of ink are per a colour chamber
Colour 62, 301, 302, 303, 304 cartridges are 1.5ml & XL cartridges 2.5ml per colour
Colour 305 cartridges 1ml & 305XL 2ml - Colour 308 1ml & 308XL 1.5ml per colour
Don’t overfill. Carefully put the needle onto the syringe. Draw the recommended amount of ink into the syringe. Cartridges must be refilled slowly, so take time to refill a cartridge.
Insert the filled syringe with the correct amount of ink into the cartridge refill hole. You will notice a slight resistance due to the sponge inside the chamber. Insert the needle no further than 3cm. Otherwise, you will stab into the filter screen, and ink will leak from the cartridge.
Now carefully & slowly fill in the ink. If ink leaks from the filler opening, draw a little back into the syringe. Clean off any ink on the cartridge.
IMPORTANT - Now Leave the cartridge to stand on a non-absorbent surface (don’t use kitchen towel) for 8 hours so that the ink saturates the sponge.
Now Prime the cartridge. Take a syringe (no needle) and attach it to the base of the priming tool as shown above. Now pull out the syringe plunger. Please note hardly or no ink may come out, however this priming action will bring the ink to the print head and help clean the nozzles. It also importantly expels any trapped air.
It’s Important To test you have refilled cartridge correctly take the cartridge and dab it gently and hold down on to kitchen towel for a few seconds. If you have refilled the cartridge correctly you will see a three colour line on the Kitchen Towel.
PLEASE NOTE All Filled and Remanufactured HP cartridges will not display ink levels. This is not a problem as you are saving lots of money. You should always keep an eye on the print quality.
When a refilled cartridge is reinstalled into the printer it is normal to receive error messages. These might be 'Low on Ink', or 'Refilled Cartridge'. You will need to skip this error by pressing 'OK' or 'Continue'. Other error messages can be caused by ink or dirt on the electrical circuit contacts of the cartridge. Carefully clean them with a damp towel.
